Glen Bell Bio, Founder of Taco Bell
Finally deciding he wanted to own his own chain, he sold his interest in all his restaurants in 1962 and opened Taco Bell, applying what he'd learned in the last sixteen years of fast food service. After two years, the business was doing well enough to franchise, and after only fourteen years, he successfully sold the chain to PepsiCo, which in 1978 acquired and merged with the major "non-burger" fast food chains: Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Pizza Hut. Bell retired shortly thereafter, marrying and having five children. |
